“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder is a potent, brooding wine. Strong savory and earthy notes are pushed forward, while oak is very much in the background. This is the wine that most shows the natural concentration of the drought vintage. Dense and monolithic, the 2021 is pretty impenetrable at this stage, and yet it is pretty beguiling, especially with regards to what the future might hold.”

“This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon hails from O'Shaughnessy's Mt. Veeder estate. It was aged 24 months in French Oak and one year in bottle before release. The winery has two vineyards on Mt. Veeder—the steeply terraced Betty's Vineyard was purchased in 2000. In 2006, the winery acquired the Woolls Ranch. Winemaker Sean Capiaux has crafted a wild and savage 2021 Cabernet that transports you directly to the slopes of Mt. Veeder with its fragrant sagebrush, thyme, and grilled rosemary notes accented by red rock minerality and toasted oak. It is a hedonistic, full-bodied wine with a sublime depth of black and blue fruit concentration framed by firm, finely sculpted tannins that coat the palate. The long finish delivers nuances of olive tapenade, earth, violets, cassis, and huckleberry. Wonderfully fresh and balanced."
